Recovery Tracker: Where Should I Be Today?

Pick what you had done and the date. Get what is normal today, what comes next, when you can wear shoes, shower, drive and exercise, and the signs that mean call the same day.

Free tool from ASG Foot & Ankle Specialists

Every recovery guide on this site is written week by week. This tool does the counting for you: it uses the same numbers as the guides, works out which stage you are in today, and turns the milestones into dates on your calendar.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Timothy Horak and Julia Shauger, board-certified podiatric specialists serving Homewood, South Chicago Heights & Mokena. Last reviewed September 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the recovery tracker work?

You pick the procedure or injury and the date it happened. The tracker counts the days and shows the healing stage you should be in, what is normal to see and feel right now, what comes next and on which date, when common activities like shoes, showering, driving and exercise are usually fine, and the warning signs that mean call the same day. The numbers are the same ones in our written recovery guides.

Is the date I enter sent anywhere?

No. The procedure and date are stored only in your own browser so the day count is right when you come back. Nothing is sent to ASG or anyone else.

What if my recovery is slower than the tracker says?

The tracker shows typical ranges for a routine procedure in an otherwise healthy adult. Diabetes, poor circulation, smoking, steroids and a more involved procedure all slow healing. Your surgeon's instructions always override the tool. If you are clearly behind the timeline or something on the warning-sign list is happening, call and be seen.
